Hotelcert® is a specific certification for hotels. It is a guarantee of quality service, especially on such items as reception, rooms, breakfast, the overall stay and the surrounding environment and is delivered by AFAQ/AFNOR. When you choose to stay in a hotel certified by HOTELcert®, you can be sure it has been regularly checked over (every 18 months) and is always up to standard. The assessments are carried out by an independent body whose responsibility it is to ensure that the establishments are up to the highest quality standards. The HOTELcert® label is a guarantee that the hotel will strive to satisfy you and that efforts are constantly being made to improve the quality of service.

Quality Tourism is an official name given by the Secretary of State for Tourism to establishments that have met national quality standards. An independent audit is carried by a “mystery” specialist (every three years). The hotels and restaurants promise to respect certain criteria and to ensure strict hygiene and safety rules. They have also put in place a system for dealing with customer complaints.

This label denotes the places that are accessible to people with special needs due to their handicap (physical handicap, sight deficiency, hearing deficiency or mental handicap). Created by the National Federation for Outdoor Accomodation (F.N.H.P.A), consumer societies and the Secretary of State for Tourism, Quality Camping is the only national and official quality charter for camp sites. They are checked regularly on over 500 different items. These camp sites provide a warm welcome, very clean amenities, precise and accurate information as well as private and well prepared spots.

All the places listed in this group respect the environment, whether they are comfortable hotels or rudimentary camp sites. They have policies on water-saving, waste disposal and staff training in environmentally friendly behaviour. Ecolabel tourist sites are “naturally better” as they are submitted to environment-friendly tests. The results are certified by an independent body. The European Ecolabel can be found throughout the European Union, in Norway, Liechtenstein and Iceland.
